Being an Influence

I was duped into attending my first home Bible Study. My friend asked me if I wanted to go to a “gathering.” I thought he meant go to a hangout or a party…

I agreed!

My friend and I showed up at this place and I wondered where in the world I was.

We were at a house and all the people inside were carrying a book. I thought, “Is this a book club or what?” It was weird.

After finger foods we were encouraged to get in a circle and someone played the guitar and everyone sang together. I sat there and looked down at the floor – I did not know these songs. They didn’t sound like The Offspring, NOFX or Soundgarden.

Then a guy opened this book and began teaching from it. I realized it was a Bible and I was at a Bible Study!

I felt awkward and I was mad at my friend for tricking me…Until I gave my life to the Lord a year later.

My friend just had a heart to see me follow the Lord – and looking back he did everything he could to be an encouragement to me and share the truth with me.

Be both bold and loving in being an influence for eternal things. Don’t be afraid to share the gospel, even if the listener feels awkward and is mad at the time.

The person could end up saved, serving the Lord and being greatly used by God!

“Proclaiming the kingdom of God and teaching about the Lord Jesus Christ with all boldness and without hindrance.” – Acts 28:31
