“I feel like.”
This phrase has become a trendy preface to almost any statement these days.
“I feel like we should go to this place.”
“I feel like I need to do this.”
“I feel like this person should…”
It is simply a way to start a thought, but this phrase really line’s up with the way our society is led.
Many people are led by how they feel, rather than being led by faith.
Feelings have become preeminent and faith has become an afterthought.
Yes, recognize feelings that you have and work through serious issues, but don’t let your feelings dictate the direction you should take in this life!
The problem with feelings is that they are erratic and ever-changing.
You could “feel like” living in the big city, move there, and two weeks later realize that those “feelings are gone,” and move back where you came from.
You could “feel like” changing the world on Friday, and realize on Monday, that the world has changed you.
When we walk by faith in God, we will be consistent in life because God is both the stability we need and the leader we long for.
Feelings are fleeting but the Father is never changing.
Feelings come and go but God is always there.
Feelings of excitement can lead us on a path that end in depression.
Feelings of being carefree can lead us to make a decision that results in major regret.
Faith on the other hand – will lead us on the path of God’s will and the feelings that follow will be of anticipation and expectation.
Consistently walking by faith is the most amazing adventure you’ll ever be on!
Don’t let feelings usurp your faith in God- who has big plans for you!
I’ve seen so many people start out with solid faith but end with failure – because they decided they knew better than The Lord.
God always knows best, not your feelings, not your heart, not your clever ideas, not that one friend full of opinions.
When we are led by God, He will give us the desires of our heart.
When we place Faith in GOD first, feelings will follow.
Psalm 37:4 says, “Trust in the Lord, and do good; Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. Delight yourself also in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.”
Trust and Faith are synonymous.
Full surrender to God’s plan will lead to fearlessly walking on your God-given path.
Faith is the compass that helps us to forge ahead.
Feelings are not always based on fact or faith – they cannot be trusted.
We can fully trust that God will lead us on the path of our purpose – the feelings that follow are: joy, peace, anticipation, excitement, and an assurance that you are exactly where God wants you.
It doesn’t get much better than that!
Trust God, walk by faith, and watch the path that God is paving for you light up!
Psalm 119:105 says, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”
