I hit the car so hard I flew over the handlebars onto the top of the trunk. It hurt badly. And my friends Mom was angry with me.
At this point in my childhood I barely knew how to ride a bike. Yet, here was this big challenging hill in front of my friends house.
The hill was daring me to ride down it on my friends bike.
I began rolling down the hill and I picked up momentum. Pretty soon I was riding faster than I felt comfortable with!
I only knew about the brakes that you applied with you feet. But this bike had hand breaks. I couldn’t stop. I thought I was going to die!
My friends Mom was pulling in the driveway and I rammed her car with her sons bike! It was painful and embarrassing.
I’ll never forget that terrifying moment. I’ll never forget the lesson I learned because of that moment.
Before you go full steam ahead, make sure you are prepared.
Knowledge is knowing something in your mind, wisdom is enacting what you know.
Before you take a huge step down a steep hill make sure the Lord is giving you the green light…
And make sure you know how to use the breaks.
Proverbs 16:9 – “A mans heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps.”
