Honed in to Honesty

Proverbs 28:13 – “He who covers his sins will not prosper, but whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy.”

In order to have forward motion in our faith there needs to be a genuine honesty between us and the Lord. When one becomes too comfortable what can follow is complacency, transgression and then the cover-up. We can hide our sin from every person we know and get away with it. The truth is, the Lord knows. Hardened hearts can prevent honesty and cause us to hide the truth. Yet, the result will be a halt in our walk with God. We won’t progress in God’s promises if we are secretive and solitary.

Those who confess and are honed in to honesty with God will be free of weighted down guilt. Those who are honest with the Lord and cry out to Him with all their worries, troubles and transgressions will be free, relieved and forgiven. Mercy is not getting what we deserve. As we are honest with God, He withholds judgement and freely forgives. Repentance is not a bad word. Repentance is turning from sin, towards God. It leads to forgiveness and a realization of the freedom we have in Christ.

Today, be real with your Redeemer. Be an open book with your loving God. Don’t hold back, He already knows. Share with Him, be honest, confess, repent, and realize God’s amazing mercy in your life!
